Soward & Gholson.

Amanda Irene Soward and
Charles Bradley

 Gholson of Tupelo were
united in marriage at seven o'clock in the evening on September 17,
at Big Oaks Golf Course, which was owned by the bride's mother and
late father.

The bride is the daughter of Debbie Soward of Saltillo and the late
John Soward. She is the granddaughter of Noble and Betty Lopeman of
Des
Moines, Iowa

 in English,
, and Linda and Jack Soward of Ontario, Canada.

The groom is the son of Kristie and Chuck Gholson of Tupelo. He is
the grandson of Emily and Joe Maddox of Tupelo and the late Charles and
Edwina Gholson of Belzoni.

The ceremony was officiated by Brother David Langerfeld and
directed by Thomas Evans. Photo memories from the evening were captured
by Marty Pettit. The couple exchanged traditional vows under an arbor of
garden flowers and candlelight.

The bride was escorted by her brother, Jason Soward, up a stone
staircase, past her father's memorial marker, and down a rose
petal-lined aisle. The couple was married on the 17th hole, the
course's signature hole and a favorite of the bride's father.
When guests, who included close family and friends, arrived, they were
welcomed at a white tent where they were served tropical punch from a

with a fresh fruit ice ring. Old-fashioned fans marked
with the initial "G" were handed out They were then seated in
a golf cart to follow the path to the 17th hole where they would watch
the wedding at sunset.

Given in marriage by her mother and brother, the bride wore a
beautiful Alencon lace gown featuring a scalloped V-neckline with
crystals and rhinestones embellishing the empire bodice. The
fit-and-flare gown was complemented with a low back extending into a
chapel-length train with buttons flowing down the center. Her

was a single layer of illusion edged with Alencon lace falling to the
fingertips. She wore diamond earrings, a gift from the groom, and a

pin that belonged to the bride's father.

Amanda carried an arrangement of beautiful and fragrant hybrid tea
roses, grown by the parents and grandparents of the groom, who are
members of the Northeast Mississippi Rose Society. The bouquet which was
wrapped in ribbons matching the groom's tie, also included garden
flowers and orchids. All arrangements featured at the wedding and
reception were designed by Travious Avant.

The groom and his father, who joined him at the altar, wore linen
suits. Brad's suit was accented by a Ralph Lauren Purple Label
floral tie. A special message from the bride was sewn inside the
jacket's left flap and given to Brad the morning of the wedding.
The message was embroidered on a piece of cloth from a Tommy Bahama
island-style shirt that was a favorite of the bride's father.

Chris Thompson, an internationally acclaimed violinist provided
music before, during and after the ceremony. The ceremony began with the
seating of the grandparents. Following was the seating of the mothers of
the bride and groom. A memorial candle was lit by the parents of the
bride's late father.

Music was provided by Emily Hall, cousin of the groom. She was
joined by guests in singing the hymn, "Sweet Sweet Spirit" She
also sang "From This Moment" by Shania Twain.

Following the ceremony, the couple drove away in a golf cart
decorated with "Just Married" cans and paper flowers to the
reception which was held at Big Oaks Golf Club. A

and details made of almonds and pine nuts and an iron peacock adorned
with curried deviled eggs. Guests were seated at tables decorated with
garden flowers and candles in McCarty pottery and candlesticks from the
groom's family, along with Waterford crystal and candlesticks from
the bride's family.

The bride's table was featured underneath four columns draped
with fabric, cascading greenery, and garden flowers that included
"kiss me over the garden gate." The table featured Waterford
crystal champagne flutes and a five-tiered vanilla cake with buttercream
frosting by Creative Cakes of Tupelo. The cake was decorated using
delicate string work, monogrammed with "G," and placed on a
silver plateau surrounded and topped with garden roses that complemented
the bride's bouquet.

The groom's table was decorated with antique duck decoys,
brass pheasants, and a giant chocolate-coated urn filled with ornamental
grasses, bromeliads, and orchids. McCarty Pottery was topped with the
groom's favorite desserts: homemade cheesecake with fresh raspberry
or praline topping

, red velvet truffles, lemon truffles
with toasted coconut, and real butter sugar cookies. The table also
included pound cakes made by Brad's maternal grandmother.

The couple shared their first dance to the song "I Can't
Help Falling in Love," made famous by Elvis Presley and sung by
Jack Curtis, a friend of the bride's family. At the outdoor
reception, guests listened and danced to music provided by the band
Groove Skillet.

The couple left their wedding reception in a limousine for a 14-day
honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Brad and Amanda now reside in Guntown and work in Tupelo.
